Best ways to use Progest-E Complex Replenishing Oil:

For PMS:

The normal pattern of progesterone secretion during the month is for the ovaries to produce a large amount in the 2nd two weeks of the menstrual cycle, ( i.e. day 14 through day 28) beginning at ovulation and ending around the beginning of menstruation, and then to produce little for the following two weeks. An average person produces about 30 milligrams daily during the 2nd two weeks. Progest E complex contains approximately 3 milligrams of progesterone per small drop. Three to four drops, or about  9 -12 milligrams of progesterone, is often enough to bring the progesterone level up to normal. That amount can be taken day 14 through 28 of the menstrual cycle. This amount may be repeated once or twice during the day as needed to alleviate symptoms. Since an essential mechanism of progesterone’s action involves its opposition to estrogen, smaller amounts are effective when estrogen production is low, and if estrogen is extremely high, even large supplements of progesterone will have no clear effect; in that case, it is essential to regulate estrogen metabolism, by improving the diet, correcting a thyroid deficiency, etc. ( Unsaturated fat is antithyroid and synergizes with estrogen.)

Perimenopausal:

The symptoms and body changes leading up to menopause are associated with decreasing production of progesterone, at a time when estrogen may be at a lifetime high. The cyclic use of progesterone, two weeks on, two weeks off, will often keep the normal menstrual cycle going. Three to four drops, providing ten or twelve milligrams of progesterone, is typical for a day, but some women prefer to repeat that amount. Progesterone is always more effective when the diet contains adequate protein, and where there isn’t an excessive amount of unsaturated fat in the diet.

Postmenopausal:

Some women continue the cyclic use of progesterone after menopause, because the pituitary gland and brain may continue to cycle long after menstruation has stopped, and progesterone is an important regulator of pituitary and brain function. The cycling pituitary affects the adrenal glands and other organs, and progesterone tends to protect against the unopposed actions of prolactin, cortisol, and adrenal androgenic hormones. Progesterone’s effects on the pituitary apparently contribute to its protective effect against osteoporosis, hypertension, hirsutism, etc. But some women prefer to use progesterone without interruption after the menopause, for its protective anti-stress effects. Slender people usually find that two or three drops are enough, but this amount may be repeated once or twice as needed to relieve symptoms. Adequate protein in the diet and good thyroid function help the body to produce its own progesterone; even if the ovaries have been removed, the adrenal glands and brain continue to produce progesterone.

Storage Instructions

Refrigeration or Cool, Dark Storage

For optimal freshness, store Progest-E in the refrigerator or in a cool, dark location away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.

Natural vitamin E can deteriorate with prolonged exposure to light and high temperatures. Proper storage helps preserve the quality of the oil-based formula.

Refrigeration is recommended for long-term storage or during particularly warm weather, but it is not required under normal cool storage conditions.

How to Use Progest-E After Refrigeration

Because the formula becomes more viscous when cold:

  1. Remove the bottle from the refrigerator approximately 20–30 minutes before use.
  2. Keep the cap securely closed while the oil gradually warms toward room temperature.
  3. Once the oil flows more easily, dispense the intended amount.
  4. Close the bottle and return it to its storage location.

Do not microwave the bottle or expose it to direct heat to thin the oil.

Storing the Bottle Upside Down

When the bottle is nearly empty, Kenogen recommends storing it upside down, with the cap securely closed, in a small glass inside the refrigerator.

This keeps the remaining oil near the dispensing tip and makes it easier to access.

Important: Keep a full or nearly full bottle upright. Inverting a full bottle may cause the oil to dispense too quickly when opened.

Additional Storage Precautions

  • Protect from direct sunlight and prolonged heat exposure.
  • Keep the cap tightly closed.
  • Avoid contaminating the dispensing tip.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Follow any expiration date or additional storage instructions printed on the bottle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Progest-E Complex, from ingredients and progesterone concentration to application, storage, and important product information.

Progest-E Complex by Kenogen is a concentrated, oil-based formula containing 10% bioidentical progesterone, natural vitamin E, and organic coconut-derived triglycerides.

Unlike conventional progesterone creams, which use cream or lotion bases, Progest-E uses an oil-based formulation containing natural d-alpha tocopherol and mixed tocopherols. Its concentrated drop format allows small quantities to be dispensed without measuring a cream.

The formula contains only three main ingredient groups: natural progesterone, natural vitamin E, and coconut-derived triglycerides. It is supplied in a 1.15 fl oz bottle.

Progest-E is not interchangeable with every other progesterone product. Different formulations and routes of administration may produce different absorption and hormone exposure.

Bioidentical progesterone has the same molecular structure as the progesterone naturally produced by the human body.

The progesterone used in Progest-E is plant-derived, but the finished progesterone is a manufactured, biologically active hormone. It is not simply a botanical extract.

Progest-E contains:

Natural progesterone: Bioidentical progesterone in a 10% oil solution.

Natural vitamin E: D-alpha tocopherol and mixed tocopherols, which form part of the oil-based formulation.

Organic coconut-derived triglycerides: Vegetable triglycerides used as part of the carrier oil.

Progest-E is a patented formula made by Kenogen.

Progest-E contains 10% progesterone by weight, equivalent to approximately 100 mg of progesterone per gram of solution.

The amount delivered in a drop depends on its size:

A small 30 mg drop contains approximately 3 mg of progesterone.

A larger 60 mg drop contains approximately 6 mg of progesterone.

For this reason, descriptions stating that each drop contains 3 mg or 6 mg can both be consistent with the same 10% formula, depending on the size of the drop.

Temperature, oil viscosity, bottle position, and squeezing pressure can all affect the size of individual drops.

Important: Counting drops is not a precise method of measuring hormone exposure. Your healthcare professional should determine the appropriate amount for your individual circumstances.

Progest-E has historically been described for application to the lips, tongue, or gums, as well as topical application to the skin.

However, oral and topical administration are not necessarily interchangeable. The amount of progesterone absorbed, the rate of absorption, and the resulting hormone exposure can differ depending on how the product is used.

For accurate dispensing:

Allow refrigerated oil to warm toward room temperature if it has become thick.

Hold the bottle carefully and apply gentle pressure.

Dispense the amount specified by your healthcare professional.

Avoid excessive squeezing, which can produce unexpectedly large drops.

Close the cap securely after use.

Use only the administration method and amount recommended by a qualified healthcare professional familiar with progesterone therapy.

Kenogen's historical usage information describes progesterone use during the luteal phase, the portion of the menstrual cycle that begins after ovulation and ends when menstruation starts.

In a typical 28-day cycle, ovulation is often estimated around day 14, although actual ovulation timing varies considerably.

The manufacturer's historical directions describe using progesterone during approximately the second half of the cycle rather than throughout the entire month.

However, calendar day 14 does not reliably identify ovulation for everyone, especially when cycles are shorter, longer, or irregular.

The appropriate timing, amount, and duration of progesterone use depend on individual medical circumstances. Do not begin a hormone regimen or repeatedly increase the amount used based solely on general product directions.
