Tomatoes, sun-dried, ripe
This sun-dried tomatoes work great as a tasty raw snack, or added to salads, quiches or other savory tarts, breads, muffins, or crackers. You can also rehydrate them before using them for a softer texture, and doing so makes it easy to turn them into a paste or dip.
Most people associate tomatoes with Italian food (pizza and pomodoro sauce being two of its staple dishes), but this vegetable-like fruit is originally from South America. It wasn't until the 1500's that Spanish colonizers brought some seeds with them to Europe and introduced this food to the Wester world. Who could imagine their lives without tomatoes now?
